Student achievement, safe schools, and a positive school climate is what CVUSD is all about when it comes to supporting student success! Just ask the administrative teams and their teaching staffs at Hidden Trails ES in Chino Hills and Liberty ES in Ontario. These two amazing sites have been recognized as 2020 CA Distinguished Schools! What does it take to be a Distinguished School you ask? The award is given to schools based on performance and progress specified on the California School Dashboard. Considerations include graduation rates, suspension rates, test scores, English learner progress, college and career readiness, and chronic absenteeism. Elementary schools and middle and high schools are recognized in alternate years; therefore, Hidden Trails ES and Liberty ES will hold the title for two years and are eligible to be recognized as a National Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Distinguished Schools Awardee.

Distinguished School awardees serve as examples of excellent teaching, learning, and collaboration in highly successful school climates that offer real-time conflict resolution and positive behavior intervention. Success in these areas also garnered recognition for our school teams with Liberty ES earning a Gold Recognition through the California PBIS Coalition Program and Hidden Trails ES earning a Silver Recognition. Congratulations!
