HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE Spring EVENT

For dates and more information, visit AvondaleAZ.gov/HHW FUN FACTS:

` The amount of wood & paper we throw away is enough to heat 50,000,000 homes for 20 years.

` If we recycled all our newspapers, we could save 250,000,000 trees each year.

` In the U.S. we use 2,500,000 plastic bottles every hour.

` There is no limit to the amount of times a can made from aluminum can be recycled.

Help Avondale be on the right side of recycling! Be on the lookout for our emoji inspectors, and be sure you are recycling correctly.

Kp it simple. ONLY RAIN IN THE STORM DRAIN

Polluted runoff threatens our clean water. Stormwater flows untreated to our rivers, washes, and retention areas. Whatever goes down the storm drain can eventually enter in our water supply. Here are some helpful tips to keep our waterways clean:

` Apply pesticides and fertilizers sparingly and as directed. ` Properly cover and store hazardous materials.

` Clean up after your pet. Pet waste can contain harmful bacteria.

` Place drip pans under leaking vehicles, and schedule to have them repaired.

` Empty pool water into the sewer system through your sewer cleanout.

` Sweep yard debris into piles and dispose of it properly. Do not hose off or blow it into the street.
