Josh Kimbrell, a Republican candidate for South Carolina’s 4th Congressional District, held a Town Hall at his alma mater on Tuesday, April 17. Te Q&A format of the Town Hall provided NGU faculty, staff, and current students the opportunity to ask Kimbrell about his position on key political issues, ranging from the federal budget to education to foreign affairs.


Leanne Starnes was named Teacher of the Year for Mathews Elementary School in Greenwood, SC. She has also been named District Teacher of the Year for Greenwood School District 50.


Tiffany Wilkinson works with Access to Success (A2S), a ministry she has been involved with since February 2018. A2S is a Nigerian educational nonprofit that provides sustainable programs that generate positive change for Nigerian children and their communities, empowering them to live out God’s plan for a future filled with hope. A2S runs a daily after-school academy for over 200 children, provides summer camps, offers scholarship programs, and annually hosts a program called Entrepreneur Incubator, where business-minded students get to pitch business ideas that will grow their community.


Diana Emory Williams and her husband, Allan Williams (’06), are founders of Precision Wellness Center in Hickory, NC, a functional medicine and anti-aging clinic. Diana holds a Master of Science in Nurs- ing (MSN) and is a certified family nurse practitioner. Allan is also the national account sales manager for DuraServ Corp. out of Dallas, TX. Tey have two daughters, Everly and Anniston.


2008 Chrystal Bulman is a command post controller with the United States Air Force.


Jacob Patterson was elected president of the Joanna Lions Club in Joanna, SC, on June 14, 2018. He will serve in this role until June 2019. Lions Club International is one of the largest global service organizations in the world, with emphasis on restoring sight and preventing blindness.


Nathan Willis won the award for Most Popular Film in the 2018 Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) Online Film Festival for his short film “Cowgirl Up.” Willis is a documentary filmmaker who has directed for MSNBC, Vice, Fusion, and the Academy Award-win- ning production company Participant Media. He and


his colleague Sherry Anderson conceived, shot, and edited “Cowgirl Up” in 2016 as part of a 5-day documentary filmmaking competition called the Fusion Doc Challenge. Te film premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival, where it won in the categories of Best Film, Best in Directing, and Best in Sports.

Anthony Green, Jr., plays with the Egypt Bears with the Egyptian Federation of American Football. Before Egypt, Green earned most valuable player (MVP) honors while playing for the Eger Heroes of the Hungarian Football League. Tere, he led the Heroes in all-purpose yards and touchdowns while placing fifth in scoring. He also played in Turkey in 2016.

Shane Burnett (MCM) has published his book “Family Matters: Continually Strengthening Families through God’s Word,” which offers a call to reviving the family through the guidance of God and worship. Burnett lives in Duncan, SC, with his wife of 25 years and their two daughters.


Kristin Cox Cooke has written and illustrated her first children’s book series, titled “Miguel’s Mystery.” It is available in paperback and e-book formats. All five titles in the series are available on Amazon.


Timmy Ward serves as retreats director at Camp Eagle in Rocksprings, TX.


2012 Jenna Key has been selected by the South Carolina Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (SCASCD) as an Emerging Leader in Education in South Carolina. She was also Teacher of the Year in the 2016-17 school year at Alexander Elementary School and is now the instruc- tional coach at Slater-Marietta Elementary School in Marietta, SC.


Katie McDaniel has been hired as a floater teller with CresCom Bank in the Charleston, SC, area — based out of the North Charleston branch.


2013 Guilherme Ferreira is the sales manager for the European division of New College Group, a specialist college providing English language courses for inter- national students in cities like Manchester, Liverpool, and Dublin.


2014 William Caldwell has a new job as the historic interpreter at Fort Dobbs State Historic Site, the only North Carolina frontier defense during the French and Indian War. “Te skills I developed at NGU helped me advance from a tour guide at a plantation to a park guide with the National Park Service and now a historic interpreter,” he says. “Every day, I bring history to life for our visitors and make use of the knowledge and skills first developed at NGU.”
