Stephanie Donald (’04) English Language Arts Teacher at Blue Ridge High School, Greenville County Schools

North Greenville has a very impressive list of past and current educators who have made an impact on many students. Mr. Robert Boggs is what my high school students would call “the GOAT”: the Greatest of all Time!

I first met Mr. Boggs in a required Western civilization course. My first impression of him was that he was one of the most unique and intelligent individuals I had ever met.

Mr. Boggs allowed us to share our thoughts and opinions in a safe and respectful manner. He conducted his class through discourse, instead of the usual lecture method. He also had a very dry and sarcastic sense of humor, which made [even the] uninteresting historical lessons a bit more tolerable.

After that, I took any history class that Mr. Boggs taught, even though I wasn’t a history major. (I have so much admiration for that man that I later asked him to officiate my wedding!)

Once I’d graduated from NGU, I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching and became an educator myself in the public schools. Today, I run my classroom in a similar fashion to Mr. Boggs: through discourse, respect, encouragement, and, most importantly, humor!
