By Sophokles, Translated by Anne Carson SEPT. 27-29 | OCT. 4-6
An ancient story with a contemporary voice. Using a variety of theatrical
styles, this collaborative piece will highlight creative design and direction to explore the opposing worlds of man’s law versus God’s law.
Music and Lyrics by Jason Robert Brown FEB. 14-16 & 21-23
An abstract, self-contained song cycle about the choices we make when confronted with change, loss, and opportunity. From the deck of a Spanish sailing ship in 1492 to the ledge of a Fifth Avenue skyscraper in the present day, this powerhouse of music takes the audi- ence on a journey of moments in time when choices are made.
By Lauren Gunderson NOV. 8-10 & 15-17
A celebration of discovery, originality, and curiosity. Based on a true story of Henrietta Leavitt, who worked at the Harvard Observatory in the early 1900s when women weren’t allowed to touch a telescope. Yet she developed a way to measure light and the distance between stars!
By William Shakespeare APRIL 4-6 & 11-13
A challenging approach to a classic play through prism of a contemporary viewpoint. Can this piece speak to relationships in modern culture? It’s the proverbial war between the sexes, and the plot pits an opportunistic, 16th-century lord against a headstrong woman, whom he is wooing in order to acquire her substantial dowry. “The Taming of the Shrew” examines the eternal essence of love, power, infatuation, and real partnership.
