ROTCMarches On
North Greenville University held an open house in October 2017 for its new Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) office on campus — now the central point for students to visit and receive direct information regarding the program.
NGU has maintained an Army ROTC program since the ’90s, always partnering with Furman University and sharing its space for program-related events. While that partnership will continue, NGU’s ca- dets now have their own designated space to gather.

other,” says Scholarship and Enrollment Officer Al Williams.
Te hope of the recruiters is to have a stronger presence on campus to enlist more students into the NGU program, as well.
“Te current NGU enrollment is 13 cadets,” says Williams. “We hope to greatly increase this number over the next 18 months.”
Space to host the program’s growing num- bers would not have been possible without the generous financial support of Dr. William “Bill” McManus (’59); his wife, Jean; and their family.
Bill served for 26 years as a navy chaplain and retired last year from a career as a per- sonal counselor and psychology professor for NGU. Even though he officially re- tired, he has continued teaching part-time during the 2017-18 school year.
“I am honored that I was able to be a part of this project,” says Bill. “I have the utmost respect for these men and women, and I want to invest in them and in NGU to continue to train future cadets.”
In addition to the new office, benefits for NGU’s ROTC students are many. Enrolled and qualified cadets are eligi- ble to receive two-, three-, or four-year scholarships that pay 100 percent of their
