$215m in 2018 Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) has announced it reached €190m ($215m) in sales across all its commercial units in 2018. The result dovetails with a record-


breaking 15m passengers handled during the year. BUD toasted the success of its retail,


aviation and business partners at its annual awards ceremony, with Maygar Duty Free Kft (T2B) winning Retailer of the Year alongside Memories of Hungary kft (SkyCourt) and SSP Hungary – Camden Food Co. (SkyCourt). The event, now in its 12th year, attracted


more than 300 attendees from the airport’s carriers, concessionaires, operations and other enterprises who play an important role in the Hungarian gateway’s continued success. Commenting on the win, Ildikó Jankovich,


Managing Director at Gebr. Heinemann’s Hungarian Duty Free (Maygar Duty Free Free) said: “This award is the ideal way to cement our partnership with Budapest Airport – the number one distributor of original, branded items in Heinemann’s entire European network. “Since opening our first store at the


airport in 1998 we’ve experienced a more than 50% increase in sales, last year being no exception as we recorded further growth. Thank you to all at the airport who are part of this fantastic team.” BUD plans to continue its commercial


momentum in 2019, with a number of units due to be refreshed and revamped at its SkyCourt passenger hall situated between Terminal 2A and 2B.

has announced plans for a new concessions programme, was recently named the fastest growing airport of its size in North America (5m—20m annual passengers), bringing in 13m passengers. International routes include several


serving Latin America, along with the recently added British Airways flight to London. Passenger numbers using BNA are


expected to grow to over 20m by the 2030s. The Metro Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) is looking to add more non-stop destinations and international flights. To accommodate the projected growth,


MNAA has announced a $1.2bn renovation. This encompasses the expansion


and reopening of Concourse D, a new international arrivals facility, expansion of


the ticketing/baggage


claim/lobby and building of new parking garages. The entire project is expected to be completed by 2023.


Stellar JV stores open at BWI Airport


Travellers to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport are being treated to new retail outlets under a joint venture between Stellar Partners and Morgan Group Ventures. Athleisure brand Marika has opened


a 1,058sq ft store in the A/B food court; its first in travel retail. It sells yoga-inspired apparel and accessories for men and women. In March, Stellar News will introduce


a 1,259sq ft news and gift store in the same location. A 966sq ft White House Black Market


shop will follow in April. This will feature women’s fashion


garments and collections from the Soma Intimates brand. Stellar Partners President and CEO


Padraig Drennan said: “This retail offering is designed specifically with the BWI


Marshall Airport traveller in mind. “The Stellar team is passionate about
