Karen Kraushaar of Darnestown and Stefanie Schroller of Gaithersburg spent fi ve days riding across Iceland in September.
Gretchen Butts of Waredaca was the president of the ground jury for the two star at the Gatcombe Horse Trials in England this September. There, Marc Donovan was the jumping course designer, and Mark Phillips designed the cross-country course. Gretchen walked the two-star course with ground jury member Jan Cot- tam (GBR) and chief steward Fran Mcavity (CAN).
Kenya by Horseback: This past August, sidesaddle rider and foxhunter Lou Steinfort spent six nights in the Masai Mara wilderness on a horseback riding safari. Steinfort, from Ellicott City fl ew into Nairobi, Kenya, and spent a day at an elephant sanctuary, and then a giraffe sanctuary where the rare Rothschild’s giraffes are bred. From there it was off to Masai Mara with four other guests and a team of staff from Safaris Unlimited, run by Gordie and Felicia Church.
