Promise Landing Farm has hired Caitlin Martin as its new Executive Director. Martin has been the Site Director at the Melwood Recreation Center in Nanjemoy for the last three years, and will take over as Executive Director this summer. She has been riding since she was 8 years old, start- ing out in show jumping while her family was stationed in Spain. When her family returned to the United
States, Martin started competing in local hunter shows and earned her C-3 rating in the United States Pony Club with De La Brooke Pony Club. She began working for Melwood as the Equestrian Program Co- ordinator in 2013, and attained her PATH certification in 2014. In addition, Promise Landing Farm was recently awarded a US Eques-
trian Federation Opportunity Fund grant to address their ever-growing waitlist. Promise Landing will use the funds to hire more staff so that they can offer their therapeutic services to more clients.
Loch Moy Farm traveled to the Millstreet International Horse Trials
in Ireland in May for its Young Rider Exchange presentation. Te young rider exchange was funded by the Maryland Horse Industry Board and it allowed the highest placed American young rider at the Maryland International Horse Trials in July to travel to the Millstreet International Horse Trials the following May to compete. In exchange, the highest

For his part, the Irish re- cipient, Godfrey Gibbons, told Loch Moy owner Carolyn Mackintosh: “I have been working with horses since I could walk, came up the ranks through ponies then moved onto Juniors with my mare Milchem Free Spirit where I traveled twice to European Championships in Sweden, and Britain where I was part of a silver medal winning team in Britain in 2022. Ten I moved into Young Riders last year and we won a team Silver again in Italy. I was also was fortunate enough to travel to Lion in France for the 7 Year Old World Young Horse Championships with my mare Milchem Miami.” Maryland Secretary of Agriculture Kevin At- ticks and MHC President Kim Egan were on hand for the presentation.
Blair Jackson is the first winner of the Menfelt Adult Amateur Scholar-
ship, which is awarded by the Maryland International Equestrian Foun- dation. Jackson began riding when she was 10 and competed in dressage, 4-H shows and a few horse trials but took a break while attending college. When she was 25, Jackson picked up lessons again and now at 28 she half leases a horse from Destination Eventing to compete in starter horse trials. Jackson was awarded $1000 as the 2024 scholarship winner.

hunter/jumper veterans and
prospects alike. As of the time of this writing, two of the horses in the Bald Cypress sales program
are Maryland-breds: Wailea Day KIS (pictured), a 2019 Westphalian mare bred by Wendy Costello at Kent Island Sporthorses in Stevensville; and My Magic Lady, a 2019 Toroughbred bred with three track starts, bred by Larry Johnson. Wailea Day KIS is by Wild Dance out of Doha Day (Donavan). My Magic Lady is by Street Magician out of Listento- thewindblow (Partner’s Hero). Welcome aboard!
