Solstice is a joint venture of Integral Se- nior Living and North- Star Healthcare Income. In these positions, they


will have C-suite responsibilities for both In- tegral and Solstice. Gray has been CEO of Integral for a decade. Ferrer has more than 15 years of experience in fi nance and ac- counting, including at Ernst & Young.

Chicago-based Vi an- nounced that senior vice president of human re- sources, learning and or- ganizational development Judy Whitcomb has been named one of Crain’s


Chicago Business 2020 “Notable Leaders in HR.” The list celebrates top Chicago-area human resources executives for their success and accomplishments over the past 18 months. Under Whitcomb’s leadership, Vi has been widely recognized for its employee development initiatives, executed to guide and grow future leaders, with turnover de- creasing from 29 percent to 22 percent.


J. JUSTIN HUTCHENS


Chicago-based Ventas, Inc., has appointed J. Justin Hutchens as exec- utive vice president, se- nior housing, North America. The appoint- ment is part of a series of


actions, including a realignment of current executive team responsibilities, to accelerate performance in senior housing and build on the company’s strengths. Hutchens will over- see Ventas’s senior housing business in North America, which includes over 700 properties that provide high-quality environments for approximately 60,000 seniors. Hutchens brings more than 25 years of senior housing experience, including as COO of Emeritus; CEO, COO, and president of National Health Investors; and president of HCP (now Healthpeak).


Argentum COO, Workplace Recognized


Maribeth Bersani, Argentum COO, was named to the Hall of Honor in the McKnight’s Women of Distinction


Awards. A national, independent panel of judges selected Bersani to be part of this elite class because of her executive leadership and signifi cant contributions to the senior living industry. Bersani has played a role in shaping policy, improving quality, and creating the identity of senior living as we know it today. Since 2015, she has served as COO at Argentum.


In addition, Argentum was for the second consecutive year certifi ed as a great workplace by the independent analysts at Great Place to Work®. It also received a higher overall score and higher scores in many individual areas, compared to 2019. The 2020 data showed an increase in positive re- sponses in all fi ve dimensions of trust, including fairness and camaraderie.
