Looking back at the Covid lockdowns, it all feels rather surreal now. I almost can't believe we really stayed at home for so long, without seeing friends and family. There's no doubt though that those unique months have had a lasting effect on the way many of us look at the world and want to live our lives. Maybe it was the impetus you needed to fulfill your bucket list dreams, one of which might have been to buy a property in France or finally move there. Some of you may have decided you want to stay close to family – but this doesn't mean you can't still relocate across the Channel. Intergenerational living has been the solution for many families – and where better to do it than in France, where you can buy a beautiful and affordable home with space for all the family. Turn to page 34 to read more about the personal and financial benefits of this growing trend. On this side of the Channel, I've just returned from our French Property Exhibition in London – it was so lovely to chat with visitors about their plans, from buying a holiday bolthole to starting a new life in France. Bonne chance à vous!

EDITOR’S PICK A six-bedroom house near Carcassonne in Aude There are so many reasons to fall for this house in the south of France. I love the glimpse of the view through the open door, looking right through the house to the landscape beyond. Those pale blue shutters, reflected in the azure pool, are the stuff of dreams. The alfresco dining spots, airy living space, peaceful bedrooms – enough for all the family to visit or even share the space permanently. Plus the property is near Carcassonne, which has a special place in my heart. It's priced at €785,000 (beauxvillages.com).
