A long list of celebrities and other notables from all over the world have fallen in love with this pretty Provençal town WHAT THE AGENTS SAY…
Tim Swannie, director of buying agent Home Hunts, shares his thoughts on Grasse. “Grasse is quite international, like much
fashion and more, and an old prison building is currently being converted into beautiful halls of residence for up to 450 students. A media centre/ library that opened in the city centre in December 2022 won a prestigious architecture award. Despite the celebrity cachet,
properties in Grasse are generally lower in price than in many of the neighbouring villages and towns, increasing by around 10% since the pandemic. The average price is €4,150/m2
for houses and €2,740/m2 for apartments. ■ On the market FIND MORE PROPERTIES ON

of the French Riviera. Many Brits live in and around Grasse and many more own holiday homes in the area. It’s a real working town and is probably more French than some of the other surrounding towns and villages, but it is also popular with German, Dutch and Scandinavian buyers. The international school attracts families from all over the world. “It’s a bustling place with a lot happening all
year round. Located in the hills of the Riviera, a few miles inland from the coast, it offers stunning views down to the sea. The old town is full of beautiful streets to explore and is home to some great restaurants, shops, art galleries and a large number of perfumeries, as well as the 11th-century cathedral. The town centre just gets
better and better, the main high street is thriving and a host of new restaurants and shops have opened since Covid. “The young, dynamic mayor Jerome Viaud
is constantly looking to make improvements to the facilities on offer. As well as the new college campus and Projet Martelly, there are two hotel renovations taking place too. Things are really going from strength to strength. “Grasse is easy to access. Nice airport
is around 30 minutes away and even in the summer you are away from the coastal traffic so it is easy to get around. The nearest ski slope is around 35 minutes away and the nearest beach is around 20 minutes so you have many options on your doorstep. “Prices are between 20-30% lower than in
some of the nearby villages such as Valbonne and Mougins.”
