AIRCARE’S BATTERY FIRE MITIGATION SOLUTIONS
Because of the increasing threat level of lithium battery fires on aircraft, a myriad of products have become available to mitigate the danger of these incidents. There are trade-offs with each of these units. Size, weight, procedural applications and compliance all need to be taken into account before choosing a system that is right for your operation.
WHAT IS FIREBANE?
Firebane is a new class of aqueous-based class A,B and D rated fire extinguishing agent that have proven effective in many scenarios. Its primary purpose is to aid in the extinguishment of Lithium battery fires in the cabin or on the flight deck.
It is a patented formula that works by bonding water with sugar alcohol so that is can cool much more effectively than water alone.
It has been used effectively to put out lithium metal fires which are a component of the lithium battery fire.
There are no fluorocarbons and as such, no dangerous off gassing associated with aqueous based extinguishing agents.
AIRCARE FIRESOCK
The Aircare FireSock™ Battery Risk Management System is for the transport of Lithium battery-powered appliances (laptops, phones, personal electronic devices) in the aircraft cabin and especially in the cargo area. The FireSock™ System may also be used during a lithium battery fire. The resealable storage tube is designed to carry 80 ounces of water for dousing the appliance and stopping thermal runaway.
