If you are connected to Landis Communities, you likely know the guiding values shared across the organization – Joy, Compassion, Integrity, Stewardship and Community. Although not a guiding value, Fellowship, the theme for this issue of FLOURISH, is the fundamental element connecting them all.
W
e experience fellowship as we live and work together in community, build relationships, learn each other’s life stories and serve one another with Christ-like love.
Three milestone anniversaries this year highlighted the significance of fellowship in
the places residents call home. In February we marked the 60th year for Landis Homes with an open house in the High Foundation Auditorium. The 1st anniversary of residents moving into Landis Place on King was celebrated in May on the 6th floor Terraza overlooking downtown Lancaster. And in June, we gathered for a Garden Party on the grounds of Welsh Mountain Home to commemorate 100 years of service! All were times of sharing endearing stories, good food and rich fellowship.
In this issue you will also find stories of where fellowship can occur – gathered around a quilt, over a bowl of strawberries and ice cream, in a drum circle, or in the company of a caregiver. I am grateful for each opportunity to be in the presence of others!
In the 1970s, Landis Homes began holding a barbeque event that later expanded and became known as Fellowship Day. Now even larger, Fellowship Days will offer a variety of activities September 9-14. Please see the back cover for details.
