Ed and Kris eagerly anticipate building relationships with other Landis Place on King residents and look forward to opportunities to be more active and spend time outside. “Where we live now is not ideal for aging well,” said Ed, of their home on Landis Valley Road. “We’re excited about active living in the city and being more social.”

Some of their favorite Lancaster City establishments are Central Market, Southern Market, Te Bread Peddler, and Prince Street Café. As soon-to-be residents of LPK, they’ll be able to visit even more frequently and enjoy strolls to their favorite places.

Tey’re also looking forward to utilizing Landis Place on King’s exercise room, fire table on the sixth floor terrace, and community rooms. Te Kaminskis can’t wait to gather with new neighbors and friends.

“It’ll bring so much joy to feel a part of things while living at Landis Place on King,” Kris shared. “We’re looking forward to having friends and being part of a community.”

Ed agreed. “We’re thrilled to be moving to an urban setting with neighbors,” he said. “Tere’s the excitement of renewal and exploring new things together, and I get to live in something I helped develop.”

“It’s time to live where I’ve always wanted to live,” Kris said. “As I get older, I’ve realized how precious time is. So I say, ‘Let’s move! Let’s do it!’”

A Rendezvous with a Taste of Downtown History

E

d Kaminski is the nephew of Lancaster restaurateur Roger Gaspari who operated

the Rendezvous Steak Shop for decades until its closing in 2019. Along with his daughter Zoe and his son Riley, a pizza chef trained professionally in Florence, Italy, Ed’s family is bringing back this taste of Lancaster’s history. Right here on its original location—the grounds where Landis Place on King is being constructed—Lancaster will soon be able to revisit the Rendezvous, reborn.

In addition to bringing back the famous Rendezvous cheesesteak—a family recipe

shared over generations—the Kaminskis plan to serve wood fired Neapolitan pizza with an infusion of healthier food.

Te core menu of primarily locally-sourced ingredients will also feature seasonal accents, including a new vegetarian option: the portobello cheesesteak.

“It’s going to be really fun to serve the people of Lancaster,” says Riley. “We love the connection with our family history and this community.”
