Ed, 64, and Kris, 58, have been married for seven years and Ed has been an employee of Landis Communities for four years. “I worked for 15 years in business development at the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Mid-Atlantic,” Ed shared. “Larry Zook asked me to join the Landis Communities board and be the spokesperson for affordable housing at the board level.”

As the Director of Landis Quality Living, Ed has been overseeing the construction of Landis Place on King. “I loved the rendering immediately,” he said of the LPK model.

Kris agreed. “When he first showed me the architectural drawings, I said, ‘I want to live there,’” she recounted. “I’ve always lived in the suburbs but I’ve been wanting to live in a city environment. I want to be more engaged in the community, and that’s what Landis Place on King is all about!”

Ed and Kris appreciate how LPK appeals to older adults in the middle market and to those in need of more affordable housing. “It’s a very unique approach,” Ed said. “We are offering affordable units within the middle market project. We were able to do that with two main funding sources: the City Vision Capital Campaign and the award of HOME dollars from the City of Lancaster – federal dollars for affordable housing. Landis Communities is happy to offer this new location with affordable units and middle market units to those who want to live in the city.”

Kris, an ESL teacher at JP McCaskey High School, is passionate about thriving communities. “Te community aspect of Landis Place on King is real and authentic and that’s what attracted me,” she said. “It’s great to be a part of this, even on the periphery.”
