LANDIS TEAM MEMBERS TAKE STEPS TOWARD A
HEALTHIER COMMUNITY
Each year, Landis Communities team members and their families, along with residents of Landis Homes, have been joining together to participate in the Lancaster Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Since 2016, Landis Communities has raised nearly $30,000 in this effort. In addition, we have partnered with the local branch of the Alzheimer’s Association to provide resources and even shared planning of activities.
L
andis Homes Director of Residential Living, Rebekah Johnsen, heads up the Landis Communities team. “Te Landis Communities Team is a very special group of people, consisting
of residents, family members, and team members from all across the organization. We have each been impacted in some way by this disease and we all want to do our part to help find a cure.”
To her, it is personal. She says, “Alzheimer’s has impacted the lives of several women in my life. Most recently, my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and eventually passed away. I also see the impact of Alzheimer’s in the lives of residents here each day. I want to see a cure for this terrible disease, which is why I choose to walk.”
Local ALZ Walk Coordinator, Frances Gibbons, is grateful for how Landis Communities has been involved saying, “Since 2016, I have had the pleasure of working with Landis Communities in various projects for the Alzheimer's Association Greater PA Chapter. Tey are true leaders in raising Alzheimer's awareness and funds. Dollars raised through this event have helped us increase our presence through educational programs, healthy living for the brain & body, support groups, and other services.
Together, the 24 Landis Communities participants have raised nearly $3,500 in 2022. 20 •
