EVENTS NEWS
Connecting across borders:
I recently attended the 23rd International Trenchless Engineering Conference and Exhibition, which took place from 10 to 12 June in Tomaszowice, just outside Kraków. It’s the biggest event of its kind in Poland and across Central and Eastern Europe, bringing together trenchless professionals from far and wide. The programme had a bit of everything – workshops, panel discussions, live kit demos, and plenty of chances to meet and chat with people in the industry. It all wrapped up with a gala dinner and a scenic cruise along the Vistula River.

Something for everyone
Day one was mostly aimed at Polish contractors, with workshops and demos delivered in Polish. That could have made it tricky for international visitors, but I did my best with translation apps, and some of the live demos had English support thanks to a few helpful German operators. It all helped make the day worthwhile.
As someone who edits a magazine and isn’t out in the field every day, I’ve got a general understanding of the kit and what it’s used for, but not always the nitty gritty of how it all works. That’s why these sorts of events are so valuable. Seeing things up close, asking questions, and chatting to people who do this work
This was my first visit to Poland, and after supporting the event for the past few years through Drain Trader as a media partner, it felt like the right time to go and see it for myself. I was genuinely looking forward to it.
The whole event was really well put together. The topics were relevant, the schedule was full, and the hospitality was spot on. I couldn’t take advantage of every part of the programme, but it was clear the organisers made a real effort to make sure everyone felt welcome, well looked after, and had a great time.
