Brake Pads
CL Brakes (formerly known as Carbone Lorraine) have beaten all other brake pads in terms of performance and price. These pads are designed for competition use and are used by top teams around the world. The pads are made of a unique sintered material resulting in all compounds having a very high friction coefficient and its uncompressible material gives a stiffer pedal and better brake modulation. Unlike other performance pads these are gentle on the discs and require no specific bedding in procedure. One of its best features is that the pad material operates from cold and friction does not decrease with high temperatures. The pads are available in four different compounds.
BEDDING IN PROCEDURE No specific process necessary. With new discs: Progressively warm up the brake system. With bedded discs: A couple of mid pressure brakings. To be used with high quality brake fluid.
RC5+ COMPOUND Average friction coefficient - µ = 0.4
RC5+ compound has been particularly developed for Fast Road and light competition use. With the road market in mind this new compound offers low noise, no dust, very low wear rate and effective from cold.
It’s also suitable for competition use in low grip conditions (Gravel, wet, standard tyres etc…). For competition use it can be fitted in the rear axle which helps to get the right brake balance when brake bias adjustment is not possible
RC6 COMPOUND Average friction coefficient - µ = 0.5
Carbone Lorraine’s original compound first produced 9 years ago to match a very large application range in rally and circuit.
It can be used in almost every type of competition and provides a high and stable friction level. Can be used front and/or rear combined with the RC5 and RC8. The discs life is increased because there is no material transfer.
RC6 ENDURANCE COMPOUND Average friction coefficient - µ = 0.46
This successful compound was launched during 2008, the RC6 Endurance offers a good level of grip combined with extremely low disc/pad wear rate making this the winning combination for endurance races.
As with the entire product range the bedding in process is easy and the performance is very stable from cold to high temperature. (for price of RC6-E please add 26.5% to RC6 price or phone us for quote)
RC8 COMPOUND Average friction coefficient - µ = 0.6
RC8 compound is designed for the most demanding high performance cars, (WRC, Nascar, WTCC, ZA V8, GrpN…..)
Very high and stable friction level which will shorten your braking distance while still offering a good pedal modulation enabling you to brake hard without locking wheel. This compound should be used with another CL Brake pad for the rear axle. RC8 is also available with a grooved backing plate option known as RC8-R.
RC8 - R OPTION
Designed to provide a radiator effect the contact area with the calliper is reduced providing better heat transfer. This patented shape is particularly useful in cases of brake fluid temperature issues and with ventilated brake systems (air ducts). (for price of RC8-R please phone us for a quote).
