21 President’s Message 21 The Board 30 SifTips –

Choosing the right welding helmet 31 And Finally – a message from the board EDITOR’S NOTE Welcome to this edition of Welding World. What a summer we have had – shocks, sunshine and in some ways business as usual.

First the football – at a time when there have been so many negative distractions in both the world of work and business as a whole, the England team decided to go and raise all of our spirits with an amazing showing in Russia.

It was proof that in sport, as in life, anything really is possible and it’s something we can all learn by.

The weather has of course played a key role in the last few months as well, prompting many to cast their minds back to 1976 for the last great ‘hot one.’ How this will impact on sales and productivity is yet to be seen but it has helped to keep spirits up without a doubt.

And then of course there is the economy. Once again the stakes have been raised to even more remarkable heights in the great Brexit debate. But whatever happens it is clear that we all have our focus at every level, leave it to the businesses and we will get the job done.

As we reflect on the Welding World Awards past and look ahead to the busy Autumn period and highlights such as EuroBlech in Hannover, it is clear that this is a sector which has the quality and confidence not just to survive, but to thrive – and to do so on a global stage.

We’ve been world beaters for years.
