Uruguay is among the new golfing destinations added to Marriott Golf’s offering after Marriott International’s acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. In total, Marriott Golf, the golf tourism division of the world’s largest hospitality company, has added three new courses to its portfolio of managed properties. The most exciting new addition is the Sheraton Colonia Golf & Spa Resort in Uruguay. Conveniently situated on the outskirts of the historic city of Colonia del Sacramento, the resort overlooks the 18-hole Real Golf Course. Other new additions to the portfolio include the Pine Cliffs resort in Albufeira (Portugal) and the spectacular Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa in the Mediterranean city of Marbella (Spain).
LONG DRIVES AT HA LONG BAY
The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay in northern Vietnam is set to become an international golf destination with the development of the impressive new FLC Halong Bay Golf Club. US-based design company Schmidt-Curley was tasked with creating the 18-hole, par-71 course, which boasts spectacular views over the limestone karsts of Ha Long Bay. Laid out to play just 6,300-yards from the white tees, it’s a forgiving and approachable design well suited to the holiday golfer.
