Malahini Kuda Bandos THE MALDIVES

The Maldives is synonymous with amazingly white sandy beaches and brilliant shades of blue. Malahini Kuda Bandos offers all of this — with a spa and private beach area as well as watersports facilities and restaurants — just a stone’s throw away from the international airport

This four-star hotel is located on the beautiful Island of Kuda Bandos and has 82 air- conditioned rooms.

LOCATION Located only four miles from the international airport, Malahini Kuda Bandos offers beach living without breaking the budget. This small island resort has 82 beautifully appointed rooms with comfort and serenity foremost in its designs. With five room categories to choose from, there’s something for everyone at Malahini. For the more opulent traveller, the Beach

Villas offers the perfect sanctuary, fusing the indoors and outdoors seamlessly. The floor to ceiling windows of each villa frame views of the amazing beach and the turquoise lagoon on the front side whilst travellers can enjoy an open- air rain shower under exotic banana trees and coconut palms at the back side of the villa. The decor of the villas is designed to aesthetically

please while giving visitors a feeling of calm. Travellers will take comfort in the knowledge that the resort doesn’t use single-use plastics as its bathroom amenities as part of its ongoing green goals.

ACCOMMODATION The accommodation options at Malahini Kuda Bandos include a variety of different rooms as well as villas. Guests can choose from a Beach Villa, a Deluxe Room, a Superior Room, a Garden Room or a Classic Room. Located along the shoreline, Beach Villas

are made for contemporary beachfront living with a dramatic open-air bathroom. These wonderfully spacious individual standing villas are each 40sq m and have everything you need to ensure a comfortable stay, including a king sized bed, an extra sofa bed, a LCD satellite TV, air conditioning, an indoor standing shower and an outdoor standing shower, a bath, a mini bar and free wi-fi.

Dotted along the shore, the Deluxe Rooms

afford a partial view of the ocean. Each room is 27sq m and has all the modern conveniences one would expect, such as air conditioning, satellite TV, free wi-fi, a minibar: Located above the Deluxe Rooms, the hotel’s

Superior Rooms affords sweeping views of the ocean. Each room is 18sq m and has everything you need to ensure a comfortable stay: The Garden Rooms are 22-24sq m, while

the Classic Rooms are 18sq m — both have everything you need to ensure a comfortable stay.

DINING One of the highlights of any day spent at Malahini is relaxing on the immense stretch of beach in front of the all-day dining bar, Bluu, with a cold drink while watching the sun give a spectacular show as it sinks into the horizon. Bluu encompasses barefoot, casual dining at its best. Travellers can choose from a variety of options to dine or nibble on at the beach while

they while away the day. The overwater buffet restaurant offers an impressive and mouth- watering spread of international dishes.

SPA & WELLNESS The beautifully lush spa, Alizé, is designed to calm the senses. Choose from the two beautifully appointed open-air treatment rooms or one glass-enclosed treatment room located on the shoreline with views of the beach and the ocean. The treatment menu includes a wide variety of Asian inspired treatments to take the stress of the city away, to the sounds of water and soothing therapeutic music. For a more invigorating hour, explore Flex; a

fully equipped fitness centre boasting views of the beach and the ocean.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION Conservation and the environment have been at the heart of Malahini from the beginning. One of the biggest projects for the reduction of the resort’s carbon footprint is the photovoltaic

system, which provides solar energ for the resort. From January 2019, 30% of the resort’s total energ comes from the solar panels. The resort also doesn’t use any straws, and

produces its own drinking water in its own glass water bottles using the unique classic crystal purification system as part of its bid to reduce single-use plastics. This saves the resort from throwing away more than 125,000 bottles per year.

EXCURSIONS Travellers can take the plunge and explore the underwater beauty the Maldives is famous for with the Dive Crew at the five-star-rated PADI dive school at the Marine & Recreation Hub. Turtles, baby sharks and the beautiful colours of the underwater world are a definite must- see. For the more adventurous, the Marine Hub offers a wide variety of motor sports, from jet- skis and wake boarding to an underwater sea bob. Or catch a breathtaking bird’s-eye view of the resort on a para-sail trip.
