Fond Doux Eco Resort SOUFRIERE, ST LUCIA
Fond Doux Eco Resort is a sustainable Green Globe-certified organic estate located in Soufriere, St Lucia that’s locally owned, managed and staffed. Fond Doux Eco Resort is situated amid a 250-year-old, traditional working cocoa plantation that features 17 eco-luxury cottages nestled into a 135-acre estate, surrounded by a rainforest landscape and tropical gardens. Accommodation is available in one- and
two-bedroom air-conditioned cottages with eight of the units containing their own private plunge pool. Fond Doux preserves St Lucia’s architectural heritage by saving abandoned colonial buildings from around the island and restoring them as guest accommodation. As part of the resort’s eco mandate, the
furniture and paintings used in the cottages are handcrafted locally. The Bamboo Restaurant offers a ‘plantation to plate’ experience, where the chef uses freshly picked fruits, vegetables and spices which are organically grown on the plantation to create authentic, delicious Creole dishes. The Creole Pot Restaurant offers buffet
style culinary cuisine for wedding receptions, seminars and other private functions. The resort also consists of an organic spa, a three-tier cascading pool with a library of international books, a craft shop which showcases a wide variety of local arts and crafts, gm, Circle of Love wedding gazebo and the Plas Cacao Chocolate shop. The resort is conveniently located just minutes away from Soufriere, which is Saint Lucia’s main tourist attraction. It includes the Pitons, Tet Paul Nature Trail, Sulphur Springs — ‘the Caribbean’s only drive in volcano’ — and the best diving sites on the island, all within the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage Site. Fond Doux has opened its first ever historical
park, which is the first of its kind in Soufriere. The park features an 18th-century French fortress, prison cells, a shrine, nature trails, picnic areas, an interpretation centre and washrooms. In addition, there are also onsite activities such as chocolate-making, cocktail- making, traditional St Lucian cooking classes and the Petit Piton trail.
Don’t miss The historical park’s fascinating attractions gives visitors an insight into the heritage of the island
