A landmark reimagined
In the heart of Tbilisi stands a build- ing that once connected Georgia to the wider world, sending telegrams, voices and messages across borders. It was one of the city’s most strik- ing landmarks, a symbol of progress and communication. Today, thanks to the vision and active involvement of George Ramishvili,
founder and
chairman of Silk Road Group, it’s been brought back to life as Te Tele- graph Hotel. Now open to guests and a proud member of the Leading Hotels of the World, Te Telegraph blends history and design in what’s quickly become one of the region’s most talked-about destinations. From the earliest planning stages,
George was involved in every step of the transformation. He worked closely with renowned architects Rossana Hu and Lyndon Neri of the award-winning design studio Neri & Hu, shaping the project with the same personal dedication he brings to all his ventures. For him, this was never just another hotel, it was a cultural restoration and a chance to share the spirit of Tbilisi with the world. Originally built in 1964 by archi-
tects Lado Alexi-Meskhishvili and Teimuraz Mikashavidze, the former Central Telegraph building served as a vital communication hub during the Soviet era. George recognised its historic significance and its potential to once again become a space for con- nection. Te result is a hotel that tells the story of old Tbilisi while offering the best of the new. Managed by Silk Hospitality,
Te Telegraph Hotel marks a new chapter in the country’s evolving trav- el scene. With 239 guest rooms and suites, it combines refined design with a strong sense of place. It’s more than

a stay, it’s a destination that brings people together through culture, conversation, and experience. Te Telegraph’s dining and bar
scene is already making a name for itself in the city. Brand chef Irakli Asatiani of Silk Hospitality is the cre- ative force behind the hotel’s dining concepts, overseeing Grand Cafe with its elevated all-day menu, Te Grill, which is known for its high-quality meats and fresh seafood, and Bell & Grey, a relaxed-yet-polished setting for
cocktails and informal meals.
Complementing these is Laan Tai, created by celebrated chef Rose Chalalai Singh, which brings a dis- tinctive Southeast Asian flavour to the mix. Recent additions include an Italian restaurant and the Roll- ing Stone Rooftop Bar (opening 15 September), which
offers impres-
sive views of Rustaveli Avenue, the historic rooftops of the Vera dis- trict and the flowing Kura River. Te Tatuza Jazz Club is also open- ing soon (15 September) and will be a great spot for live mu- sic. Whether for a weekend stay or
an evening out, the
