At the foot of the impressive Alpstein massif, surrounded by green hills and picturesque villages like Appen- zell in the middle of a region rich in tradition, one of the best hotels in Switzerland waits to be experienced. Long-time regulars know what they love, and more and more new guests are discovering it.
WELLBEING It all began 300 years ago when the first spa opened in Weissbad. Almost 30 years ago, a modern health hotel was established, based on the vision of the hotel managers and their loyal staff — to live by values that have be- come rare today: friendliness, warmth and professionalism every day. A pearl of hospitality.
ARRIVE. FEEL GOOD T e resort off ers the choice of two ac- commodation types: the simplicity of three-star Lodge Hof Weissbad or lux- ury of the four-star Hotel Hof Weiss- bad. Always included: loving details and fi rst-class comfort.
Freshly prepared dishes, both nat-
ural and homemade, is the credo of longstanding head chef Käthi Fässler. Experience nutritional awareness ac- cording to FX Mayr or enjoy the cu- linary diversity in three restaurants: rustic, modern, elegant, or in the lively bistro with bar. 16 Gault Millau points speak for themselves.
ACTIVE Being active in this unique region is easy and there’s much more to discov- er than cheese and chocolate! In summer, the region can be ex-
plored by hiking and cycling, or let yourself being carried away into un- touched nature with its beautiful lakes and cosy mountain inns, such as Aescher or Schaefl er, to name only two of many. In winter, the magnifi cent win-
ter landscape can be enjoyed on skis, snowboards, snowshoes and sledges. Especially during Advent and Christmas, the resort off ers a spe- cial atmosphere, with concerts and carriage rides.
RELAX T e well-known health centre off ers a brand-new bath and sauna house, three outdoor pools and one indoor pool, a doctor’s offi ce, helpful physio- therapy practitioners and a wide range of therapies and cosmetic treatments.
WORKING Even working is a joy at the new sem- inar park, with two huge seminar rooms and two smaller board rooms — far away from everyday life. Create new (business) ideas outdoors at long wooden tables close to the river or in- door in a comfortable atmosphere sur- rounded by wood.
EVENTS More and more events take place in the resort. During summer, concerts in the park; from October to March fondue and raclette in the hut; in No- vember, cinema days and an acoustic band; in January, a magic of lights in the park. In spring, pianist Kevin
Owen entertains the audience and Swiss sushi master starts again his se- ries of events.
WELCOME Whether you’re travelling by car to Weissbad, fl ying in via Zurich or Ge- neva, taking the train to St Gallen, Appenzell or directly to Weissbad, the resort shuttle brings everyone safely to the resort. T ere’s a special surprise for stays of three nights or more at the Resort Hofweissbad: the Appenzeller Ferienkarte, which in- cludes free public transport from any point in Switzerland to the resort and museums and mountain rail- ways in the vicinity of the resort are free of charge. Surrounded by a creative fl ower
