In the heart of Paris, this hidden gem on the Place du Trocadéro delights both young visitors and seasoned adventur- ers with its stunning collection and in- novative displays. If you’re looking for an adventure

off the beaten path for your next trip to Paris, the Musée National de la Ma- rine is the perfect stop to add to your itinerary. Located in the iconic Palais de Chail-

lot, facing the Eiffel Tower and over- looking the Trocadéro Gardens, the Musée National de la Marine presents one of the world’s finest and oldest mar- itime collections. After an ambitious and complete

six-year transformation, it reopened its doors in late 2023, unveiling a reim- agined design. In this new setting, the

museum is reinventing itself as a major contemporary cultural centre, open to the world.

250 YEARS OF MARITIME AND NAVAL HISTORY Visitors can admire intricate ship models — used in the past to train naval officers — as well as paintings, monumental sculptures and figure- heads, navigational instruments and many objects that tell the story of life on board. Visits touch upon all aspects of navigation, from 17th- century sailing ships to modern subma- rines and cruise liners, as well as ship- wrecks, freight transport, ocean racing and more. With over 1,000 objects on display accompanied by various interactive ele-

ments to help visitors explore the differ- ent themes even further, it’s the perfect place to understand the maritime chal- lenges of the past, present and future.

A MULTI-SENSORY JOURNEY Designed like a voyage at sea, with four ‘stopovers’ and three ‘crossings’, the vis- it starts with an immersive film inside a life-sized ship’s prow. Tanks to spectac- ular scenography as well as interactive and innovative technology, it offers an experience accessible to all audiences, from history buffs to curious young vis- itors, with plenty to see, hear, touch and even smell. Te route leads you through a breathtaking wave to spectacular sculptures and ornaments from a Louis XIV-era warship.

MAGELLAN, A JOURNEY THAT CHANGED THE WORLD A temporary exhibition, running from 22 October 2025 to 1 March 2026, explores Ferdinand Magellan’s journey, the very first ocean voyage around the globe. It was the scene of many chal- lenges at sea and on land, from political tensions and extreme living conditions to wonder and discovery, alongside vio- lence and loss. With ‘narration’ by a crew member, this immersive

exhibition combines

storytelling, large-scale projections and animated illustrations, leading visitors on an adventure from Spain to Indone- sia, via the tip of Chile, in search of a new spice route.

ONE MUSEUM, FIVE CITIES Te museum is also present in four coastal French cities. It unfolds its collections in a monumental medi- eval castle in Brest, a 16th-century citadel in Port-Louis and on the harbour of Toulon — one of France’s his- toric military ports. On the west coast, don’t miss the two
