2024 University Casting Contest Award: Victoria Serrick of Sheridan College

Victoria Serrick of Sheridan College for her winning casting, titled "Solis.".


Institute Holds First University Casting Contest: Drinking Vessel Contest


T


he Investment Casting Institute held their first annual University Casting Contest. Keeping with the theme of this year’s conference, students were asked to design and cast a drinking vessel whether it be a Flagon, a Tankard, a Chalice, a Grail or a Goblet. Seven entries from Pittsburg State University, the University


of Toledo, Virginia Tech and Sheridan College were among the participants. The castings were on display at the 71st Annual Technical Conference and Expo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The winner, Victoria Serrick of Sheridan College was not present to receive the award.


Erich Knoespel of Artcast,


Inc. received the award as Artcast was Serrick's industry collaboration partner for the entry.

Rules • The vessel must be investment cast • Vessel must be designed to hold either ½ liter or 1 liter of beverage


• Design and construction details must be documented • Students are encouraged to collaborate with industry partners


Vessels were judged on the following basis: • Aesthetics • Functionality • Comfort • Creativity For more details on the other entries, look for the December issue of INCAST Magazine.
