Guardian Bandsaw: The Future of Foundry Safety and Productivity
headaches—bandsaw safety. For decades, cutting off gating and risers meant inevitable risks for workers: injuries to fingers, hands, and more serious consequences. Guardian has changed that.
G
From Meat Processing to Metal Casting Guardian’s journey began when founder
uardian Bandsaw is tackling one of the investment casting industry’s most persistent
and director Keith Blenkinsopp saw an opportunity for safer bandsaws in meat processing plants. Safety bandsaws already existed then, but only stopped after the operator made contact with the blade.
“Bandsaw operators were getting seriously hurt, and companies were receiving massive OSHA fines. We knew that if we could solve this problem, everyone would benefit, ” says Blenkinsopp.
Guardian introduced the industry’s
first bandsaw equipped with vision safety technology.
It actively watches
the blade area and stops the saw within milliseconds if an operator's hand gets too close. With over three million run hours on Guardian equipment, not a single injury has been reported. After finding success in the meat
industry, Guardian adapted their saws to the heavy demands of industrial applications: a heavier-duty build, variable blade speeds, dust extraction, and more.

prevent injuries in gate removal for foundries. Their patented 3D Vision Technology™ recognizes when an operator gets too close to the blade, and stops it before injuries occur. Guardian has helped companies like Ford Meter Box or CAT reduce bandsaw and cutoff saw injuries to zero.
