Visit Jersey harks back to Bergerac

Premier primes agents with package deals

Premier Holidays has released a range of added-value summer holiday breaks to the Channel Islands to meet an increase in demand for summer availability. Agents can book summer

packages to Jersey and Guernsey from July to September, which include a range of added extras such as free dinner on the first night, free half-board and free gin tasting. They can also benefit from

Premier’s agent incentive, earning £5 in shopping vouchers for every Channel Islands summer booking. Promotional materials such as

window posters, including flying from regional airports and by sea from Poole with Condor, and social media assets can be downloaded from Premier Holidays’ website. Summer holiday packages

to Jersey include five nights at Radisson Blu, incorporating dinner on the first night, and a five-night luxury break at L’Horizon Beach Hotel and Spa. Guernsey summer holidays range

from seven nights at Hougue Du Pommier and a five-night gin break at Bella Luce flying from Gatwick. trade.premierholidays.co.uk

Jersey’s tourist board has remastered the soundtrack to the classic Bergerac TV show as part of its campaign to showcase the island as a “top escape destination”. The track remaster is part of a collaboration between Visit Jersey and young British artist and multi-instrumentalist Youngr. In the 80s and early 90s, crime

drama Bergerac showcased the island of Jersey, regularly attracting more than 13 million viewers a week. Now Bergerac Remastered

sees Youngr update the original award-winning soundtrack as a modern electronic instrumental. In an accompanying video, the artist celebrates Jersey’s soundscape in scenic locations filmed across the island. Last year Jersey experienced its busiest summer season in more than a decade and Visit Jersey hopes for further success in 2018, thanks to a line-up of music and sporting events. Adam Caerlewy-Smith, head

of marketing at Visit Jersey, said: “Youngr’s take on the anthemic

TV theme tune is brilliant. The new track and music video nod to a unique piece of our pop-culture history, Bergerac, while celebrating all that makes Jersey the perfect short break escape that it is today. “We’ve enjoyed tapping into a bit of nostalgia and feel that the track and video show how Jersey is as relevant and current as ever.” Youngr added: “I’ve always been

intrigued by the Channel Islands, but this was the first time I’ve visited Jersey – and it blew me away. “Having developed Bergerac

Remastered in the studio, it was incredible to get over to the island

to capture the visual backdrop for the track and experience first- hand the stunning sights, sounds and history that make Jersey.” jersey.com/remastered

Tui agents sample top attractions in Jersey

Airways Holidays took 12 agents from Tui retail agencies on a four- day fam trip to Jersey, to sample the island’s highlights. The operator is Tui’s preferred Channel Islands supplier. As well as sampling hotels and

local restaurants, the agents took a Seafaris rib trip, visited the Jersey War Tunnels, had a guided tour of Jersey Zoo and enjoyed a tasting walk around St Helier. Gill McCarthy, Airways

Holidays sales director, said: “The trip was a great success and really sparked the agents’ enthusiasm for offering Jersey as a holiday choice to their customers.” Earlier this year, Airways

Holidays launched a travel agent toolkit, to help agents develop

their sales to the Channel Isles. As well as posters, videos and social media posts, there are booking incentives and the chance to win prizes. ◗ Visit Jersey said 2017 saw holiday visitor numbers rise 16% year- on-year to 413,200 – the highest number since 2001.

It said the growth was thanks to the success of a new destination brand initiative and support from travel industry partners and agents. Holidaymakers can fly to Jersey

from several UK airports in about an hour, or travel by ferry. airwaysholidays.com/agent-toolkit escapetojersey.co.uk
