Potato Peel Pie film has recipe for success


VisitGuernsey saw a “significant uplift” in holiday bookings following the release of the film The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society in UK cinemas during April. As well as extra traffic to visitguernsey.com, the film inspired a bookings spike for C. I. Travel Group and Opodo. Directed by Mike Newell (Four


Weddings and a Funeral) and starring Lily James (Downton Abbey, Darkest Hour), The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society grossed £5 million within a few weeks of its release. VisitGuernsey has capitalised on the film by securing an incremental £330,000 of investment devoted to driving interest and tourism growth. Mike Hopkins, director of


marketing and tourism at VisitGuernsey, said: “As well as bringing the island to new audiences, the film is reigniting interest from those who have perhaps not visited

Hauteville House secures €3m for major renovation


Hauteville House, the former home of Victor Hugo on Guernsey, will reopen in 2019 after a year-long restoration. The attraction has secured €3 million from The Pinault Collection, towards the €3.6 million project. The remainder is financed by Paris Musées and the Heritage Foundation. The work will restore the
