Quarantine plan: Back it Story: Quarantine hotels expected as part of tough new border restrictions If this had been in effect 10 months ago, we wouldn’t be in the mess we are now, and the travel industry could be looking forward to a better 2021 than we are. This proposal is too late, as usual. But the reality is that until we get the virus under control, consumer confidence to buy travel will not return, so on balance we ought to support it. Alan Bowen

Covid rule: Dangerous precedent Story: Saga insists on Covid vaccination before travel This is setting a very dangerous precedent. What next, flights? Clearly under-50s will be severely restricted for a long period of time. And the policy discriminates against those who want a vaccine but cannot get one yet. Companies that start banning perfectly healthy, Covid-free customers based on vaccination status will be in for a shock. I for one would never give them my custom again once I am fully protected.

Fabio Q Travel Weekly would welcome a response from Saga

Support: ‘No money in since 2019’

Story: MP pledges to lobby ministers on behalf of agents The travel industry needs support. I run a small tour operator specialising in bespoke charity bike rides in the UK and Europe. We help raise £100,000s for charity every year through clients’ charity partnerships. We have not had any money in since 2019. We don’t qualify for any of the government grants unless at the discretion of our council. I had one for £1,500 in November 2020 and that will not keep us a float. I have written to my MP and got no response. We are participating in the furlough scheme but we feel this is just to keep us out of one set of statistics (company failures) until we join another (the unemployed) as we run out of savings. Bearing in mind how much this industry brings in when times are good, any support would be good please. Tina Makin, Passion in Events
