Story: Supplier call wait times will hamper trade’s recovery, says TTNG chief The other problem is that direct clients get through a lot quicker than agents – there’s no excuse for that. David Wootton
Story: Travel Village Group creates support team to help frontline staff Fantastic idea, well done for looking after your staff. I’m leaving the industry after almost 30 years because of what you described. Never Ending Story

Just been so fantastic being among travel agents again this week at the CLIA Conference, here with @fredolsentravel and the GoCruise team! #lovecruise
iglu_beth @BethIglu Iglu/Planet Cruise Had such a great time at the Clia Conference. Incredible seeing the ships, and awesome company
Story: Frustrated agents call for return of ‘normal’ booking terms Sophie Ballantyne: 100% agree with this. Customers are not asking for flexible terms at booking anymore, yet expect they can change anything on a whim down the line, for reasons unrelated to Covid. It’s creating so much stress on our staff, not to mention we are doing the work two or three times for no extra earnings. Michelle Peacocke: Customers want flexibility when booking. This is not just about Covid, it’s about customer-led demands. Companies had two years to address the shortfalls in booking, but instead of fixing it they want to go back to inflexibility. Vince Fogharty: [Agents are] shortsighted if they believe this will fix it. Tour ops don’t have enough staff dealing with the trade, mainly because they are not paying enough. My local Waitrose pays £12.50 an hour – I guarantee no tour ops are paying their call centre staff that.
T&Cs: Call for ‘normal terms’ splits opinion

Story: Virgin Atlantic axes plans for winter service from Edinburgh to Barbados Greig Ewins: So frustrating – many routes being cancelled from Edinburgh.
