This action at Gatwick seems to put the nail in the coffin of plans for a second runway, given the lack of human resources this summer to operate at full capacity. Surely it is time for Luton airport to seize the moment and move into pole position (especially given that easyJet, Tui and Wizz have their HQs located at Luton). Luton airport’s Dart mass transit link to the mainline train station is a game changer. Speakthetruth
Marina Purkiss @MarinaPurkiss Ryanair boss blames Brexit for airport chaos. Jet2 boss blames Brexit for airport chaos. Wizz Air boss blames Brexit for airport chaos. Grant Shapps: Brexit is not to blame for airport chaos.
tipto4agents What a super crowd of enthusiastic agents we saw this week! Thanks for a great couple of nights! Our full Essex and Ipswich roadshow photos are now available to view in the Tipto for Travel Agents Facebook group.
Respect: Agents merit it too
Story: Gold Medal boss urges agents to maintain respect for supplier staff Susan Lynch: I think respect should also be shown for agents. We are dealing with customers, [enduring] horrendous on-hold times and still manage to show excellent customer service skills. Trying to get through to some operators while having customers sat with us is difficult. We are all short-staffed and doing the best we can.

The best of your letters, comments and social media this week Gatwick: Flights cap is prudent
Story: Gatwick tackles disruption with ‘decisive action’ to limit peak summer flights The cap on flights at Gatwick is a very prudent measure. The stories of passengers getting to the gate for their flight and then being told it was cancelled have been heartbreaking. If passengers are given enough notice as regards to a cancelled flight, at least it gives them a chance to make alternative arrangements. The long shadow of Covid-19 is indeed causing the travel world a lot of stress. Patrick Doyle
Miles Morgan @MMTMan Miles Morgan Travel Not sure there is a nicer feeling than taking a call from one of my managers and one of her team both shaking with excitement having booked a huge holiday. It was wonderful to share their joy on a Saturday afternoon.
