The CMA should tackle ‘market abuse’ by OTAs
Story: Why OTA ‘rate parity’ clauses should be banned The online travel agents are abusing their market position and the Competition & Markets Authority is helping them. OTA commissions are probably double what they would be if there was fair competition. It is time for the CMA to stop kicking this can down the road.

Story: Travel industry leaders to meet government for Brexit talks I wish this delegation every luck. I am afraid that as the politics is still being played out in the House of Commons, the clarity they seek will be less than forthcoming. The clock is ticking, and we in travel are no wiser as to what is going to happen than we were in 2016 after the referendum. When the delegation leaves after its talks with the government’s representatives, everything, I’m sad to say, will still be as clear as mud. PATRICK DOYLE

Flybmi’s failure raises questions
Story: Loganair takes over collapsed Flybmi Aberdeen services Is it not strange that Flybmi chose to file for administration on Saturday and did not act on the Friday or wait until Monday? It’s good that Loganair is in a position to potentially employ Flybmi staff who have lost their jobs. But, being a sister company, does it not have an unfair advantage over the market? It is a concern that the same group that owns Flybmi owns Loganair, as this
could prejudice creditors of Flybmi and offers Loganair an unfair advantage over its regional competitors – as demonstrated by the routes it is now picking up at extremely short notice. Transparency must prevail. This is looking as murky as the mist rising from the Mull of Kintyre.
