Paul Charles @PPaulCharles The PC Agency Despite the suspension of corridors, I’ll repeat my earlier bookings prediction: England staycations will begin again by end of March; short-haul Europe trips with certainty from May 1; and most long-haul from September onwards. 30 million vaccinated will take holidays.

Raab: Comment is blow

Story: Too soon to book summer holidays – foreign secretary Jane Berry: Don’t you just love how he says all that but fails to add any mention of support for the travel sector? Brenda Fox: This is going to put a lot of people off booking a holiday.

US: Biden’s stimulus is a ray of light for America

Story: Joe Biden’s $1.9tn stimulus applauded by US travel sector A ray of light for the American economy with this stimulus package from President-elect Biden. The way to go for the US is to look forward and not look back. The outgoing president will rant and rave – let him get on with it. There are bigger fish to fry dealing with Covid-19 and helping the economy. Patrick Doyle

Corridors: Ban splits opinion Story: UK to close all travel corridors Leia Morales: If people are happy to take a test within 72 hours and to self-isolate, please can the blanket travel advice against travel be lifted? Amanda Sweeney: I take so many calls from people wanting PCR tests to travel. They just don’t seem to get the concept of lockdown and ‘stay at home’.

The best of your letters, comments and social media this week Protection: Travel is undercapitalised

Story: Trailfinders founder proposes strengthening trust accounts Mike Gooley makes a lot of sense. Why don’t we have people in government who understand business like him? Undercapitalisation is a problem for airlines, operators and travel agents alike. All have become accustomed to trading on cashflow, which has always been precarious and high-risk. A major factor is the small margins that many in travel are forced to work with. More-stringent financial regulation would force higher margins and improve capitalisation for all. UK travellers have had it too good for too long. They might now have to pay the true price of a holiday! Stephen Wood, Explorer Travel

who could help Story: Travel industry staff targeted for NHS vaccine rollout jobs Late in the planning but still an excellent idea. Could be coordinated by Advantage or Abta? I have 18 quality staff in northeast Derbyshire who would certainly assist. Martin Founds, Anglers World Holidays

Jabs: I have staff
