Small-group operator G Adventures has introduced 34 itineraries for 2018, including Oman and Hawaii for the first time.
The introduction of Oman
follows an 86% year-on-year growth in bookings to the Middle East from the UK for G Adventures. Middle East product manager
Sofia Montezo said Oman is a great introduction to the Middle East. She said: “Oman is one of the
best-kept secrets in this part of the world and is often described as the ‘Switzerland of the Middle East’ due to its independence. It features a beautiful mix of ancient history and modern living.” Hawaii has been added as part

Intrepid offers new destinations in bid to combat overtourism
Intrepid Travel is introducing off-the-beaten-track destinations in a bid to tackle ‘overtourism’. The small-group operator will sell tours to destinations including the Azores, Finland, North Cyprus, Moldova and the Tatra Mountains in Poland for 2018 and double off-season departures in Europe. Overtourism has become a growing issue in destinations such as Barcelona, Venice and Dubrovnik,
which saw a 13.5% jump in visitor numbers in 2016. Intrepid chief executive James Thornton said:
“Overtourism has become a real issue and it’s impacting the experience for locals and travellers, so in 2018 we’re encouraging travellers to consider the alternatives and look beyond the typical destinations. “Responsible travel is about making choices that
benefit both tourists and local people. The tourism industry is growing rapidly, but not always sustainably. We need to work harder to tell travellers about lesser-
known destinations that are worthy of your time.”

trips to Hawaii and we’re excited to fulfil their request and show them another side of this part of the world,” said Scott Fuller, North America product coordinator. The additions take GAdventures’ collection of Classic trips to nearly 300. The operator said the
collection offered the “perfect balance between must-see highlights, cultural exchange, insider access and incredible value”. All will be featured in
