Agents win a trip to Thailand with Gold Medal and Travel 2

From Bangkok to Phuket and Krabi to Koh Tup, nine agents were taken on a Gold Medal and Travel 2 fam trip to Thailand last month to experience its attractions, accommodation, cuisine and more.

The winning agents won their

place on the week-long trip at Travel Weekly’s Agent Achievement Awards in July after being invited on stage to show off their dexterity skills to find a hidden elephant with chopsticks in

boxes of noodles. Little did they know, there was not one winner, but all nine were going! The week-long trip started in

Bangkok where the agents began with a city tour and visited the Grand Palace. The next day, the group flew to the coastal region of Krabi for two nights where they visited local hotels, took part in a Thai boxing class and enjoyed the facilities at the Centara Grand Beach Resort Krabi. Travelling from Krabi to Phuket was one of the highlights for the agents, as they enjoyed a speedboat trip across the bay, stopping at islands including Koh Tup and Koh Poda along the way. Once in Phuket over the final three days, the agents were treated to dinners and a cooking class, ending with a visit to an elephant sanctuary.

WHAT THE AGENTS SAID

“Krabi was my favourite place, it had a really nice, relaxed atmosphere – and it was quite exciting that we got a speedboat over to the hotel! The trip was amazing. Our

host, Louisa from Gold Medal and Travel 2, was so knowledgeable, we learnt so much about Thailand, and the people are so lovely. I will definitely be recommending Thailand to my customers in the future.” Rachael Coulson, Central England Co-operative Travel, Leicester

“One of the highlights was the Phuket elephant sanctuary. There’s so much cruelty, but this really is a place that all of us as tourists should go to. It’s for elephants that have had a really

sad life, so it was quite emotional. We spent one night in Bangkok, and that was a fantastic experience. Bangkok by night is a must for everybody.” David Evans, Hays Travel, Devon

“It was my first trip to Thailand and it was fantastic, I loved every minute. The highlights for me were the speedboat trip to the islands in the bay between Phuket and Krabi, and the elephant

sanctuary! Experiencing the nightlife in Krabi and Phuket and it was fantastic to mingle with the locals.” Jodie Smith, Preferred Travel, Hampshire
