Universal’s Aventura hotel to be ‘high-tech’


Universal Orlando Resort has unveiled details of its new “tech-savvy” on-site hotel, as its sister Hollywood park revealed it would be selling Halloween Horror Nights tickets through the UK trade for the first time.


The Aventura Hotel will be the sixth on-site property at Universal Orlando when it opens in August next year, and will feature in-room tablets that control features such as the TV and temperature. Additional tech features will include a virtual reality games room and a “dive-in movie


experience” using underwater speakers in the hotel’s pool. Alison Montague, managing


director EMEA for Universal Parks & Resorts, said: “The initial response from the trade has been really positive. UK guests have embraced the on-site properties, and with the Cabana Bay and Sapphire Falls hotels offering very distinct experiences, being able to offer something completely fresh with Aventura has been fantastic.” The details about Aventura

Universal also confirmed that


its Fast & Furious – Supercharged attraction would open next spring. Universal Studios Hollywood has also announced new attractions, including DreamWorks Theatre, due to open next year, and a Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter light show. The standalone tickets for the


park’s Halloween Horror Nights will include a day in the park and entry to Halloween Horror Nights on either a Thursday or Sunday. The two parts of the ticket do not need to be used on the same day. Montague said: “This is something we’ve been asked about for years,
