P&O plans full winter season in Gulf

Harry Kemble harry.kemble@travelweekly.co.uk

P&O Cruises’ new winter 2019-20 programme features a full season of Dubai and Arabian Gulf cruises, an extended Caribbean season, a world cruise and a new Northern Lights itinerary.

The line’s Dubai and Arabian

Gulf fly-cruise programme has been expanded to include three 14-night voyages to India, a 12-night Christmas and New Year’s Eve voyage in Dubai and two seven-night itineraries, including one over February half-term. The sailings will be on Oceana,

which will be based in Dubai. P&O Cruises, which has never

before deployed a ship in the region for six months, is offering itineraries until March 2020. Alex White, P&O Cruises’ sales

vice-president, said the decision to offer more sailings in Dubai and

the Arabian Gulf was part of the operator’s ambition to be regarded as a holiday company, not just a cruise line. “Offering more choice absolutely

plays into that,” he said. “We know there is great demand

BRITANNIA: The ship will sail in the Caribbean in winter 2019-20

for land-based holidays in Dubai and the Arabian Gulf so that is why there is an extended season there.” The lead-in price for a 10-night Dubai & Arabian Gulf sailing,

departing on October 31, is £1,099. Britannia and Azura will

run Caribbean fly-cruises with

14-night itineraries to nine ports. Arcadia will operate a 99-night

world cruise, departing on January 3, 2020, and including a stop at Manzanillo in Mexico, a

new port of call for P&O Cruises. The lead-in price for the sailing is £9,999. In addition to three cruises

operated by Aurora and Arcadia in February and March 2020, an extra 12-night Northern Lights cruise has been added in autumn 2019. The November 3 sailing on

Aurora, which will return from its March refit next year as an adult- only vessel, will lead in at £999. The programme goes on general

sale on March 21 with a 5% deposit offer for bookings by April 30. P&O Cruises’ new brochure is

being distributed to travel agents across the UK this month before

the programme goes on sale. pocruises.com
