Global Travel Week @globaltravelweek One could not ignore the rhythm of the African drum coming from the second floor of the @kiaovalevents during Global Travel Week. @meetsouthafrica brought South African KwaZulu-Natal history and culture to the event through the energetic presentation of traditional Zulu dancing and singing.

Emissions: Iata’s net-zero target for Êaviation is a greenwash tactic
Story: Iata commits to hit net-zero carbon target by 2050 OK, let’s reread this carefully. Iata has ‘reduced’ its carbon target for aviation from 50% of emissions to net zero. Wake up, people: net zero is a greenwash tactic. It hasn’t been proven to work and it disincentivises the industry to clean up its act. This is a backward step. Also, Iata seems to want everyone else to do the heavy lifting rather than telling its members to use fewer aircraft on fewer flights but charge more for each ticket.
Simon Mennens Q Travel Weekly would welcome a response from Iata
Red list: Decisions were entirely political
Story: Retention of Latin American countries on red list ‘beggars belief’ This is entirely political and has nothing to do with any data. It is keeping a red list going for the sake of it and these countries are the unlucky victims. Afghanistan, though, is safe? The Taliban can be trusted to manage Covid? I just don’t know what to say. John Hillen
