This time, the momentum looks set to build A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR


I have written in the past about the importance of momentum – not least in sporting contests where that intangible feeling can become almost unstoppable in inspiring a team or individual. Over the past 18 months, any sense of momentum building in the travel


industry’s favour has invariably been diluted or extinguished almost as soon as it has appeared. But based on feedback from the trade in recent weeks, there is at last a feeling that the tide is flowing consistently in the right direction and there is finally a chance to seize opportunities with some confidence (page 4). That isn’t to suggest the goals are now wide open for an unchallenged


travel industry comeback, of course. Financial burdens aside, there are still many questions to answer around restrictions at home and overseas,


and a need for urgent clarity around the practicalities of the reopening (page 4). But once those creases are ironed out and systems are updated in line with the new guidance, it does feel that some stability is being established as the world starts to reopen in a meaningful way. Despite the many challenges still facing the trade, this period of change will also present


opportunities to demonstrate once again the benefits of researching and booking with the assistance of a trusted professional. International travel will continue to be complex and confusing for months and quite probably


years to come and it would be a brave consumer who would assume they could sail through it without the guidance of an expert.
