1 Heathrow – Tokyo
British Airways is taking advantage of the recently relaxed travel restrictions in Japan by resuming its Heathrow to Tokyo Haneda route, following a year-long interruption. From November 13 there will be daily trips, with direct flights taking just less than 14 hours. There’s been high demand for trips to Japan since the country fully reopened in October. And no wonder: with attractions such as the historic Senso-ji temple and the mesmerising Shibuya Crossing, there’s a lot to tempt people

Heathrow – Cape Town
This Virgin Atlantic route was initially relaunched in March 2020 – before Covid-19 restrictions put it on hold. Now it’s back with more than 80,000 seats available on flights until March 24, giving clients the chance to grab some winter sun. They can take a cable car up the imposing Table Mountain, relax on the golden sands of Clifton beaches or enjoy tastings at
world-class vineyards just outside the city. Book it: Return Virgin Atlantic flights start at £814.

Dublin – Miami
AerLingus resumed its flights to Miami in October and is now offering services three times a week. Clients will be able to travel on connecting flights from eight UK airports: Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Bristol and Leeds Bradford. They’ll also benefit from US immigration pre-clearance at Dublin airport, which means more time for strolling South Beach, checking out culture and street art in the Wynwood arts district and enjoying delicious dishes in Miami’s

Edinburgh is set to be connected to the Peach State for the first time since 2007, thanks to this returning route from Delta Air Lines. Part of the carrier’s bid to increase its transatlantic offerings, travellers will touch down at Hartsfield-Jackson airport between May 25 and September 4 next year. Atlanta, Georgia’s biggest city, is a burgeoning foodie destination and has several museums covering
everything from civil rights to Coca-Cola. Book it: A return flight departing in May 2023 starts at £1,324.

3 2 Gatwick – Las Vegas
British Airways will restart its direct flight between Gatwick and Sin City next summer after it was halted in March 2020. The thrice-weekly service will run from March 26 to October 28 and will complement the airline’s daily Heathrow-Harry Reid international route. As well as its casinos and residencies from big-name performers – Adele, Sting and Rod Stewart are all on the bill for 2023 – Las Vegas also offers easy access to
the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam. Book it: Return flights start at £426.
