gents and operators were recognised at the “biggest-ever” Scottish Passenger Agents’
Association Awards in Glasgow on November 3. More than 600 delegates attended
the event, which marked the 30th anniversary of the awards. President Mike Tibbert said
the number of attendees was “near double” compared with pre-pandemic ceremonies, which used to see between 350 and 400 people come together. Tibbert presented 31 awards to
agents, airlines, cruise lines and rail operators at the ceremony held at the Doubletree by Hilton hotel.
“Recognition is everything and
I am so proud to hand these awards to deserving people, especially after the challenges of the last two or three years,” he said. “It’s amazing to be on our 30th
year of the awards. In 1992, it was just a small event with a couple of categories and over the years it has grown and grown and more and more people have been excited to come along and enjoy the evening. “This event was the biggest we
have ever had with around 600 people compared to pre-pandemic numbers of around 350-400. “So many people wanted to attend
this year’s event because they are keen to engage with each other again

after the pandemic and they want to connect from a business perspective to talk about issues they are having and discuss solutions.” Tibbert went on to say supporting
its members was the association’s top priority during the pandemic, and he was pleased to see everyone come together after a challenging period. “It makes me so proud to see
everyone here as our main ethos during the pandemic was to support our members and keep them informed with what was going on in the ever-changing travel
