Saga plans ‘record’ fams to showcase holidays and cruises

Saga is planning its biggest-ever fam trip programme in 2020 in a bid to increase sales via travel agents. Tis year, the over-50s specialist has run eight fam


trips – in addition to hosting 700 agents for the launch of Spirit of Discovery in July. Te operator is celebrating its fiſth anniversary of


trade sales by running a ‘five weeks, five prizes’ incentive for agents during October. Iain Powell, head of trade sales, said: “Next year will


see more fam trips to new destinations and different types of holidays to showcase how broad our range is. “We have 150 destinations, including Uzbekistan


and Lebanon, and gorilla-trekking in Uganda. “Tere will be a trade event for Spirit of Adventure


[due to launch in summer 2020] and we hope to get a similar number of agents on board.” Fewer than 10% of bookings came via the trade at


the start of 2018, but that has grown to 15% for holidays and 20% for cruise.
