ADVERTISING FEATURE RNEY WITH ROAD TRIPS USA Seattle, Washington Kauai, Hawaii COASTS AND MOUNTAINS OF THE SOUTH

With lush green mountain ranges and national parks dotted in between charming towns and cities, the states of North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia offer beautiful scenery to drive through and plenty of fascinating places to stop.

This itinerary from Road Trips USA takes visitors across

the beautiful region, starting in the hub of Atlanta, Georgia, home to must-see sites including the National Center for Civil and Human Rights and the World of Coca-Cola. Venture north into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, part of the Appalachian Trail, which straddles both North Carolina and Tennessee. Peaks stretch as far as the eye can see, providing a stunning setting for hikes and scenic drives, whether you want to explore by foot or by four wheels. The mountain town of Asheville, North Carolina, is next, where visitors can explore the Biltmore Estate chateau and winery. The town itself is known for having thriving independent cafes and restaurants, and a growing number of craft breweries. Just a few hours southeast is Charlotte, North Carolina’s largest city, and a hub for all things Nascar – the Nascar Hall of Fame is a great way to learn about the history of the motorsport.

Asheville, North Carolina

Head towards the coast and into the eclectic town of Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. The beachfront

is full of attractions, but less than two miles inland is Broadway by the Beach, where there’s a shopping centre, restaurants and other activities. Around two hours south is the beautiful city of Charleston, South Carolina, home to the iconic Pineapple Fountain on the waterfront, and Fort Sumter National Monument, where the American Civil War began.

Further south still is the city of Savannah, Georgia, equally as charming, where Spanish moss drapes

over the roads like a canopy and in spaces such as Forsyth Park. The nearby Tybee Island is a popular spot for a day relaxing on the beach, visiting the lighthouse or sampling some delicious freshly caught seafood. Then head back to Atlanta to round off the epic road trip.
