Join Visit Jersey’s Sarah Barton for travel tips, news and inspiration from the other side of the Channel on the sandy shores of Jersey...

Technology can be an incredibly valuable tool for the travel industry – and helped us to stay connected during the pandemic – but as the days of testing and track-and- trace become a distant memory, it’s important now more than ever to re-embrace face-to- face interactions.

As travel professionals we are in the business of discovery and adventure, with an industry that is dynamic and ever-changing. Personal connections are crucial to our success – from building trust to establishing long- lasting partnerships, sharing ideas, and generating excitement.

Ambition

Jersey may be a small 9x5 mile island, but in the first quarter of this year alone our trade team attended six travel industry shows, hosted in-person meetings, met with buyers from four different continents, and organised a series of educational trips. These in-person interactions have not only helped us to bring the destination to life, but created opportunities to better understand our customers, develop and refine the tools we provide to partners, and gain a wealth of industry insights.

This October (9th - 11th ), members of the industry will

gather on our island for Destination Jersey, a three-day travel trade event. There will be opportunities for pre- arranged appointments, education, and networking, but more importantly there will be shared experiences, personal stories exchanged across the dinner table, and a sense of discovery. After all, isn’t that what this industry is all about.
