hristopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey has been inspiring travellers to book trips in the eastern Mediterranean,
whether to follow the tumultuous path of Odysseus’s return from the Trojan War, or simply to visit some of the standout filming locations brought to life on screen. In the week after The Odyssey’s UK release, easyJet

This Ionian hotspot is said to be the location of Phaeacia, where Odysseus rested before being sent home to Ithaca with a new ship. Homer described Phaeacia as an idyll, replete with palaces and fruit trees. Contemporary Corfu has many parallels, from the royal residences of the Achilleion Palace and Mon Repos to fragrant kumquat trees on its rolling hills. While Greece takes the starring role in the movie, scenes from the hero’s home isle of Ithaca were filmed in Sicily, and Audley Travel’s 12-night Inspired by The Odyssey private tour combines the two.
