Denby brings colour to Hospitality

Today artisan pieces are increasingly accenting and replacing formal white ware and Denby’s handcrafted ceramics are eminently placed to provide a beautiful canvas for all kind of cuisines...

Denby has a long history of producing pottery for both hospitality and the domestic market and has been made in England since 1809 when it fi rst used locally sourced clay to produce a variety of products all starting with stoneware bottles to hold mineral water, ginger beer and porter. In the early 1900s Denby supplied ‘4 o’clock Tea Sets’ to prestige hotels; rum bottles and NAAFI teapots to the armed forces and serveware to school dining halls in 1950-60s. By the early 1980s Denby was meeting the diverse needs of domestic, hospitality and giftware producing casseroles to lamp bases. As hospitality increasingly moved to formal white tableware Denby took the decision to focus on the domestic retail sector although still supplying its many loyal HoReCa customers with its stunning coloured glazed ware.

Still using many traditional hand-crafting techniques and time-honoured skills, each piece of Denby passes through at least 20 pairs of hands before it gets the Denby stamp of approval. The hardy Derbyshire clay, the secret glaze recipes and the generations of craftsmanship along with the magic that happens in the kiln creates a parallel with the work of the chef –quality ingredients, expertly combined then brought out of the oven to create memorable food and drink moments.

Denby has always been ‘Styled by Life’ ensuring its products meet contemporary lifestyles and food trends are a signifi cant factor in product development. Sustainability is important to Denby, not only by making products to use for years to come but the iconic potters also have strong environmental ethics and was the fi rst pottery in the industry to be able to claim ‘zero to landfi ll’ for all its process waste.

Rigorously tested in line with industry standards Denby performs against hospitality criteria. Inherently strong Denby is fully vitrifi ed and safe for use in the oven, microwave, dishwasher and freezer and Denby’s hospitality favourites, Coupe Plates and Bowls, carry a 10 year edge chip warranty.

Tough enough for everyday and stunning enough for any dining occasion, Denby will help create memorable food moments.
