rbella achieved excellent results in 2017. Striking the balance between managing expenses, writing profitable


business, and delivering excellent service is always a challenge. I’m happy to report we achieved that balance, thanks to our employees, our independent agents, and our many valued business partners.


Although revenue was down slightly by 4.8% in 2017, by the second half we saw signs of recovery that positioned us well for 2018. With a combined ratio of 94.9% and $65 million in after-tax income, we grew our surplus to an impressive $621 million.
