À deux: Oral activities where you get to speak French with a partner, asking and answering questions based on the topics in each unit.

Interévaluation: Peer assessment, where you give your partner detailed feedback based on criteria in your book. These are a great help and support for you and your classmates: you will have specific feedback to go on based on your peer assessment.

Participez: Learning activities such as think-pair-share and group work, where you discuss and practise explaining the rules behind grammar points.

Mon portfolio: You will see this icon when you need to complete an exercise in your portfolio. There, you are given an exercise with specific success criteria (a checklist to ensure you do well!). You then self- assess from a list of étoiles (stars) and voeux (wishes) where you decide what you deserve a star for, and what areas you wish to improve on in your next exercise.

Mon brouillon (My draft): A prompt in the portfolio to write and reference a draft of your work.

Mon bilan d’apprentissage (My Learning Assessment): A reflection exercise you complete at the end of your portfolio pieces, which keeps you focused and makes sure that you are organised and managing your work, as well as your learning.

This section is a review at the end of each unit that includes a summary of keywords, a checklist of learning and a reflection section.

Mots-clés: A summary of the key vocabulary and verbs you meet in each unit. This is a very handy section when it comes to revision – everything is in one spot.

Bilan de l’Unité: A checklist of what you should be able to do by the end of a unit. It allows you to see where you are doing really well, and what areas you might still need to revise or get some help with.

Discutez en classe: An opportunity for you, with your classmates, to look back over the unit, see what you enjoyed or didn’t enjoy, what you found helpful and what your aims are for the next unit. It is a way to plan and manage your learning.

As well as your portfolio booklet, there are also 2 audio CDs which come free with this book as well as a FREE interactive eBook, where you can access the videos and photo stories.
